What happens when you use the calculator
When you click to compare tariffs, your browser sends your postcode, usage (kWh per month), and any optional fields you filled in. Our server uses that to request public tariff data from Octopus Energy and sends back the comparison. You don't need an account here.
What stays on your device
We may store your last inputs (like postcode and kWh) in browser local storage so the form can remember them next time. That copy never leaves your phone or computer until you run another comparison.
Optional email
If the site operator enables email capture, you can ask for a copy of your comparison by email. You only share an address if you type it and tick consent. When outgoing email is configured (for example via Brevo SMTP), messages are sent through that provider; otherwise the request may only be logged for the operator — see the note on the results page.
Analytics
We may use lightweight analytics (for example Plausible) to see aggregate traffic — how many people visit, not a personal dossier. We don't run targeted ads from this site and we don't sell lists of visitors. You can block scripts with a browser extension if you prefer.
Cookies
The site is built to work without marketing cookies. Local storage may be used for the form (see above). If analytics is on, it may use a small technical cookie or similar depending on the provider — check their documentation if you need detail.
Octopus Energy
Tariff data comes from Octopus's systems via their public API. How they process data on their side is covered by their own privacy policy; we don't control their website or app.
